The World Economic Forum, commonly known as the Davos Forum, where global leaders gather, is kicking off in Davos, a Swiss resort, on the 20th for a five-day event. This year marks the 55th edition of the Davos Forum, with the theme “Cooperation in an Intelligent Age,” and it will be attended by over 2,500 participants, including government high-level officials, CEOs, and academics from around the world.
President-elect Donald Trump is also expected to signal his return to the international stage with an online speech on the afternoon of the 23rd, just three days after his inauguration.
Unlike last year, when Prime Minister Han Duck-soo attended, South Korea will not have any high-level officials above the ministerial level attending this year. However, Kim Dong-yeon, the Governor of the Gyeonggi Province, will be the only politician from South Korea to attend. In the business sector, Chung Ki-sun, Senior Vice Chairman of HD Hyundai, and Kim Dong-won, CEO of Hanwha Life, are scheduled to participate.
The Davos Forum, launched in 1971, is an annual event where prominent politicians, business leaders, and scholars from various countries gather in Davos, in eastern Switzerland, every January to discuss global issues.
