Foreign media outlets reported that the Israeli military carried out its first air strike on the Lebanese capital Beirut. Reuters and other foreign media outlets stated that on July 30th local time, an Israeli military drone attacked a residential apartment building in the Cola district in central Beirut, resulting in at least 3 casualties. The Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine confirmed to Reuters that three leaders were killed in this airstrike.
The Israeli military announced that they targeted another location in Beirut in the airstrike, but did not specify the exact target. This is the first time since October 7th of last year, when the conflict with Hezbollah began, that the Israeli military targeted downtown Beirut in addition to the southern suburbs of Dahieh.
According to the Lebanese Health Ministry, as of July 29th local time, at least 105 people have died as a result of Israeli airstrikes, with over 1,000 deaths and more than 6,000 injuries reported in the past two weeks.
The Israeli military continued with dozens of airstrikes on the previous day, targeting the Houthi rebels in Yemen as well. The Israeli military stated that they have eliminated at least 20 Hezbollah commanders, including top leader Nasrallah. They confirmed the killing of another senior figure, Nabil Kaouk, on the outskirts of southern Beirut on the 28th, which was also acknowledged by Hezbollah.
