**Japanese Media: Coordination for Post-Attendance Visits to Japan and Korea after China’s Victory Day 80th Anniversary Parade**
In Jakarta, AP/Newsis reports that Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, seen saluting during the inauguration of new cabinet ministers at the Jakarta Presidential Palace on October 21 last year, has a new government comprising a record 109 members, including ministers and agency heads.
According to Nikkei on the 1st, amid escalating anti-government protests in Indonesia, President Prabowo has canceled his planned visits to China and Japan. The newspaper confirmed that both Japanese and Indonesian governments had been coordinating the visit to Japan, initially scheduled for earlier this month. During this visit, President Prabowo was expected to meet Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba and inspect the Osaka-Kansai Expo site.
Had it taken place, this would have been President Prabowo’s first visit to Japan since his inauguration in October last year. Prime Minister Ishiba had previously visited Indonesia in January to meet with President Prabowo.
Earlier, citing the intensified domestic protests, President Prabowo had canceled his planned visit to China. He was invited to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit and was scheduled to attend the Victory Day 80th Anniversary Parade in Beijing on September 3.
Kyodo News reported that President Prabowo was coordinating plans to visit Japan and Korea after attending the Victory Day events.
Meanwhile, in Indonesia, large-scale protests have erupted nationwide following revelations that lawmakers have been receiving housing allowances exceeding 50 million rupiah (about 420,000 won) monthly. The protests, which began in Jakarta, intensified when a motorcycle delivery driver was killed after being run over by a police armored vehicle near the Jakarta Parliament Building on August 28, further fueling public anger.
