‘Meanwhile, Nem. Kamala Harris, the presumed Democratic presidential candidate, has seen a significant increase in favorability over the past week, with the withdrawal of Joe Biden’s presidential candidate and the focus shifting to Vice President Harris, reflecting the “honeymoon effect.”‘
‘During the same period, Donald Trump’s favorability has decreased, and his unfavorability has slightly increased, maintaining an unpredictable election situation.’
‘According to a survey conducted by ABC Broadcasting and research firm Yipso on the 26th and 27th of last month (local time) among 1,200 people and released on the 28th, 43% expressed a favorable view of Vice President Harris. Considering that in a survey conducted in the same manner just one week before, the favorable response was 35%, this marks a significant increase.’
‘In particular, Vice President Harris’ sharp increase in favorability is attributed to the “honeymoon effect” as the attention shifted to her after Biden’s withdrawal. The decrease in the unfavorable response to Vice President Harris from 46% to 42% during the same period is also noteworthy. The overall favorability (the difference between the favorability response rate and the unfavorability response rate) was overwhelmingly unfavorable at -11 points last week, but this week’s survey showed a +1 point favorability dominance.’
‘On the other hand, former President Trump’s favorability has significantly declined. There was a time when the favorability rate for former President Trump reached 40% due to the assassination attempt last week and the official nomination of the Republican candidate. However, in the survey conducted this week, it decreased by about 5 points to 35%.’
‘The unfavorable response to former President Trump increased from 51% to 52% during the same period. As a result, the overall favorability decreased from -11 points to -17 points, indicating a further expansion of the unfavorability.’
‘It is also notable that the unfavorability of J. D. Vance, a Republican candidate for Vice President and the “running mate” of former President Trump, has increased significantly. In a week, the favorable response to Representative Vance dropped from 25% to 24%, while the unfavorable response increased from 31% to 39%. The overall favorability also shifted from -6 points to -15 points, showing a trend of increasing unfavorability.’
‘Recent rumors have surrounded Representative Vance, including the late revelation that he referred to Vice President Harris as a “cat lady” and reports of his wife Usha Vance making critical remarks about former President Trump.’
