Thousands of humanoid robots are expected to hit the market in China this year.
According to Chinese local media such as Jie Mian News on the 22nd, market research firm TrendForce analyzed that six Chinese humanoid robot manufacturers, including Unitree, UBTech, AgileBot (ZhiYuan Robotics), GalBot, Zhongqing Robotic Tech, and LeJu Robot, plan to mass-produce over 1,000 humanoid robots each this year.
Additionally, analysis agencies such as LeaderBot in a recent report stated that China is poised to produce a total of 10,000 humanoid robots worth 8.24 billion yuan (approximately 1.6 trillion won) this year, claiming more than half of the global production, according to state-run English newspaper China Daily.
TrendForce identified that 11 major Chinese robot manufacturers set mass production plans last year.
Furthermore, with Tesla expected to produce thousands of Optimus units this year, the humanoid robot sector’s ecosystem is anticipated to mature, according to media reports.
Amid this, it was reported that Unitree, which garnered attention by showcasing a dazzling group performance by humanoid robots during the Chinese New Year (Lunar New Year) period, has opened a new factory in Hangzhou.
The South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported that Unitree, with support from the Hangzhou city government, began operating a new 10,000 sqm factory in an area 15 minutes by car from Unitree headquarters earlier this year.
Unitree’s robot dog ‘Go2’ is sold for a minimum of $1,600 (approximately 2.27 million won), and the humanoid robot ‘G1’ is sold for $16,000 (approximately 22.73 million won). G1 gained popularity by selling out quickly as soon as pre-orders started in February this year.
