On December 12, 2024, during a general assembly for electing the floor leader of the People Power Party:
Just before the floor leader election, Representative Kwon Seong-dong was seen watching the president’s address. He remarked, “What are we even doing right now?” and expressed his frustrations while looking at his phone.
Meanwhile, a conversation was captured between him and his rival, Representative Kim Tae-ho.
[Kim Tae-ho/People Power Party Representative]: “On this, the most important day, there’s an address.”
[Kwon Seong-dong/People Power Party Representative]: “Yeah, right before the floor leader election.”
[Kim Tae-ho/People Power Party Representative]: “It’s completely overshadowing the election.”
[Kwon Seong-dong/People Power Party Representative]: “Exactly. They’re doing both the party leader thing and the presidential thing, and I have no idea what it’s about.”
[Kim Tae-ho/People Power Party Representative]: “People might lose interest.”
[Kwon Seong-dong/People Power Party Representative]: “Isn’t he explaining the opposition’s behavior?”
[Kwon Seong-dong/People Power Party Representative]: “Isn’t he explaining the reasons leading up to his martial law declaration?”
[Kwon Seong-dong/People Power Party Representative]: “There are probably many who won’t listen and will just vote. Will there be a broadcast in the National Assembly?”
[Official]: “It’s being streamed live.”
[Kwon Seong-dong/People Power Party Representative]: “Oh, really? During such critical times, I don’t think there’s a need to broadcast debates where people are at each other’s throats.”
[Kwon Seong-dong/People Power Party Representative]: “What’s wrong is wrong.”
