The new director of the Yeouido Research Institute at the People Power Party has been nominated as former lawmaker Yoo Eui-dong. According to multiple sources on the 14th, it was explained that “Due to various controversies such as the TF White Paper for the general election, the appointment of the Yeouido Research Institute director cannot be postponed any longer. Yoo Eui-dong, a three-term lawmaker with a strong trust relationship with Party Leader Han Dong-hoon, will be in charge of reforming the Yeouido Research Institute.”
Professor Shin Ui-jin of Yonsei University has been appointed as the new ethics committee chairman. Professor Shin previously served as the chairman of the party’s audit committee ahead of the general election. At that time, Chairman Shin conducted an audit on the party’s nationwide chapter meetings and recommended the exclusion of 46 people from nomination.
Yoo Il-joon, former head of candidate management at the Party’s Future Korea, has been appointed as the new party audit committee chairman. Former Chairman Yoo has been in charge of reviewing nominations for the People Power Party and its satellite party, Future Korea, in the 22nd general election.
It is anticipated that incumbent three-term lawmaker Song Seok-jun will be appointed as the chairman of the party’s central committee. The party’s central committee serves as a key channel for engaging with major functional and social organizations, and when necessary, it participates in the highest council meetings to convey opinions on various issues.
Jang Seo-jeong, who was in charge of promotion and operations in the Han camp, has been nominated as the head of public relations. The head of the recruiting committee, which Party Leader Han has expressed a strong willingness to institutionalize, is reportedly still in the process of selecting candidates.
Party Leader Han is scheduled to convene a closed-door meeting of the highest council via video conference at 2 p.m. on the same day to approve the party appointments.
