, ‘Hyundai Engineering was revealed to have the highest number of defect judgments in apartments and officetels in the past 6 months. Among the top 20 construction companies with the highest number of defect judgments, four companies were within the top 10 in terms of construction capability evaluation. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport disclosed on the 15th the current status of defect handling in joint housing and the results of defect judgments by major construction companies submitted to the Dispute Resolution Committee for Defect Inspection (Dispute Resolution Committee). The Dispute Resolution Committee is an organization established by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to resolve disputes related to defects in joint housing. Since September last year, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport has been publicly releasing the status of defect handling by the Dispute Resolution Committee and defect status by construction company twice a year to ensure the public’s right to know about housing defects.’,

, ‘Hyundai Engineering received the highest number of defect judgments from the Dispute Resolution Committee between March and August, totaling 118 cases. Hyundai Engineering stated, “For an officetel complex (1344 units), there were 117 defects judged, including insufficient length of pile in delivered windows and defects in windbreak panels,” and explained, “There were no issues with design or construction.” Following Hyundai Engineering, other companies with high numbers of defect judgments were ‘Jae Hyeon Construction Industry (92 cases),’ ‘Jib Vee Comprehensive Construction (80 cases),’ ‘Lime Comprehensive Construction (76 cases),’ and ‘Samdo Comprehensive Construction (71 cases).’ Among the construction companies within the top 10 in the construction capability evaluation this year, Hyundai Engineering, POSCO E&C (58 cases, 7th place), Daewoo Construction (51 cases, 10th place), and Hyundai Construction (36 cases, 18th place) were among the top 20 in terms of defect judgments.’,

, ‘Looking at the cumulative total from September 2019 to August this year, GS Construction had the highest number of defect judgments at 1639 cases. GS Construction explained, “In 2021, 1517 cases of defects were judged due to dew condensation at Ilsan KINTEX One City and Pyeongtaek Central Zai,” and stated, “The defect repairs have been completed.” In the recent 6-month period, GS Construction did not rank in the top 20 with only 14 defect judgments. Following GS Construction were ‘Kyeongyong Construction Industry (590 cases),’ ‘Daebang Construction (523 cases),’ ‘SM Sangsun (491 cases),’ and ‘DaeMyung Comprehensive Construction (361 cases).’ According to cumulative standards, GS Construction, along with Daewoo Construction (335 cases, 6th place), Hyundai Engineering (288 cases, 8th place), Hyundai Construction (208 cases, 14th place), and Lotte Construction (205 cases, 15th place), five construction companies within the top 10 in the construction capability evaluation had a high number of defect judgments among the top 20 construction companies.’,

, ‘In response to criticism that “construction companies with a large supply of housing units are likely to have a higher number of defect judgments,” the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport disclosed the top 20 construction companies with the highest defect judgment rates from this announcement onwards. The defect judgment rate is calculated by dividing the detailed defect judgment cases by the total supply of units in the judged complex and converting it into a percentage. The companies with the highest defect judgment rates were mostly small-scale companies with less than 50 units supplied, with first place going to Samdo Comprehensive Construction, which had 71 defects in 8 units (defect judgment rate of 887.5%). Following were ‘Taegok Comprehensive Construction (657%),’ ‘Woori PMC Comprehensive Construction (588%),’ ‘Yumyeong Comprehensive Construction (400%),’ and ‘Lime Comprehensive Construction (271.4%).’ Among the top 100 construction companies in the construction capability evaluation, Sambu Togeon (defect judgment rate 6.6%) made it to the top 20.’,

, ‘From 2019 to August of this year, it was revealed that 64% (8197 cases) of the total defect judgment cases (12,771 cases) were judged as defects. Looking at the major types of defects recognized, they were ‘malfunction in kitchen hoods and hygiene facilities (14%),’ ‘bulging and detachment (12.1%),’ ‘cracks (10.7%),’ ‘dew condensation (8.4%), ‘leakage (7.8%),’ and ‘contamination and discoloration (7.3%)’ in that order.’,
