Good morning on this pleasant Thursday, weather is the keyword today.

Shall we find out today’s keywords together?

“It’s the start of August” and “1,000.”

Today is the first day of August. As expected during the hottest time of the year, scorching heat continues to dominate today as well.

Overnight, Gangneung experienced a tropical night, and other regions are also experiencing consecutive tropical nights. With the daytime temperatures rising to around 35 degrees Celsius, it will be extremely hot.

As the heatwave peaks, the number of heat-related illnesses is increasing significantly. Up to now, over 1,000 people, including 4 deaths, have been affected. The scorching heat is expected to persist for a while, so please follow the three rules of water, shade, and rest.

How hot will it be in Seoul today, hour by hour?

The lowest temperature in Seoul overnight was around 27 degrees Celsius, marking the 11th consecutive tropical night.

At noon, it will reach 31 degrees, and by 2 PM, it will soar to 33 degrees. The humidity will make the heat feel even more intense.

The accumulated heat during the day will not dissipate in the evening, leading to another tropical night. With heatwave warnings issued in Seoul and various regions nationwide, other areas will also experience high temperatures, with Daejeon and Gwangju at 34 degrees, Daegu at 36 degrees, and Gyeongju at a soaring 37 degrees.

I heard that the sky conditions in the central and southern regions will be quite different today?

Yes, that’s correct. Firstly, the sky in the central regions will be cloudy today.

In Seoul and metropolitan areas until the morning, and in the northwest until the afternoon, scattered showers are expected. The amount of rainfall will be around 5-10mm, increasing humidity.

On the other hand, the southern regions will have clear skies, with many places experiencing a ‘very high’ level of ultraviolet rays.

When going out, be sure to apply sunscreen for UV protection.

Tomorrow, the central regions may receive occasional rain due to the influence of a low-pressure trough. The southern inland areas will have passing showers tomorrow and the day after due to atmospheric instability. The relentless heat is expected to continue for the time being.

Have a pleasant day today!
