Volvo Maintains ‘4th Place in Imported Cars’ Last Year… “Aiming for 3rd Place This Year with the Launch of EX30”

Volvo maintained its position as the ‘4th best-selling imported car’ last year and aims to reach 3rd place with the release of the EX30 this year. Volvo Car Korea announced on the 9th that it achieved sales of 15,051 vehicles in the domestic market last year, securing the 4th spot in imported car sales.

Reviewing Volvo Korea’s 2024 sales data, individual purchases accounted for 75%, while corporate purchases made up 25%. The age distribution of buyers was led by those in their 40s (32%), followed by individuals in their 30s (26%), 50s (26%), and 60s (11%).

The XC60 was the main driver of sales throughout the year, with 5,988 units sold in Korea, comprising 40% of total sales. It was followed by the XC40 (17%), S90 (14%), XC90 (11%), and S60 (8%).

This year, Volvo Korea aims for double-digit sales growth and to reach 3rd place in sales by fully launching its all-electric sports utility vehicle (SUV), the EX30. They plan to start deliveries of the EX30 in the first quarter, which is priced in the 40 million won range, and continue focusing on the demand for family cars centered around their existing major models like the XC range (XC90, XC60, XC40).

Lee Yoon-mo, CEO of Volvo Korea, stated, “The high demand for our SUV lineup enabled us to maintain the 4th position in the domestic imported car market by delivering the true value of Swedish premium to more customers through our multifaceted efforts. As we prepare for the launch of the EX30 in the first quarter, we will work to establish ourselves as a brand achieving the highest customer satisfaction in all aspects of sales and service.”
