Ulsan Ulju County has been selected for the “K-Drone Delivery Commercialization Support Project” for the second consecutive year. Ulju County announced on the 5th that it was selected once again for the 2025 K-Drone Delivery Commercialization Support Project, hosted by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and organized by the Aviation Safety Technology Institute.
This project provides national funding to local governments that conducted deliveries through the drone demonstration city construction project last year. In last year’s project, Ulju County ranked second among participating local governments with its K-Drone deliveries.
This year, Ulju County was finalized as a participant after adding public safety surveillance services using drones and going through the evaluation of the Aviation Safety Technology Institute.
With this project’s selection, Ulju County has secured 90 million won in national funding to pursue the goal of establishing new industries that ensure the well-being and quality of life for Ulju County residents under the theme ‘Drone Standard City Ulju.’ They plan to lead the delivery era with differentiated services along with participating businesses from the Special Drone Liberalization Zone.
The key aspects of the project include K-Drone delivery around Ganwoljae, Sinbulsan Provincial Park Campsite, and Jinha Beach, as well as safety surveillance for a secure environment in delivery areas.
Entering the second year of the project, Ulju County will increase the weight limit for drone-delivered items to 5 kg. It also plans to improve services by building a system that allows ordering items from multiple franchises at once.
The county plans to further adapt to the drone delivery era by adding deliveries to village halls and analyzing drone delivery efficiency. Lee Soon-geol, the head of Ulju County, stated, “With our selection for this project for the second consecutive year, we aim to make ‘Drone Standard City Ulju’ a leader in South Korea’s drone industry. By adopting drone services in various fields, including tourism and safety, we plan to drive innovative change.”
