Uiwang City is accepting nominations for the ‘Youth Award’ candidates… until the 11th of next month.

(Uiwang = News1) Reporter Kim Ki-hyun — The city of Uiwang, Gyeonggi Province, announced on the 17th that it will be accepting nominations for candidates for the Youth Awards until the 11th of next month, ahead of the “5th Youth Day” (the last Saturday of May).

According to the city, the Youth Awards will recognize individuals or youth organizations that serve as role models in four categories: Participation & Volunteering, Filial Piety & Daily Life, Achievement & Awards, and Creativity & Internationalization.

The city plans to select up to two awardees per category. Additionally, one organization that has significantly contributed to the healthy growth of youths, such as by supporting youth capacity development and establishing social safety nets, will receive a special award.

Eligibility for the awards includes youths aged 9 to 24 who have been registered residents in the city for more than two years and youth organizations with at least two years of experience.

Candidates can be recommended by principals of schools recognized under the ‘Elementary and Secondary Education Act’ and the ‘Higher Education Act’, the head of the district office for the candidate’s address or residence, heads of facilities where educational attainment up to high school graduation is recognized under the ‘Lifelong Education Act’, or heads of youth-related organizations. Nominations should be submitted to the city’s Sports and Youth Department.

The city plans to convene the Youth Awards Selection Committee, comprised of youth experts, in May to review and select the awardees.
