The U.S. and Ukrainian delegations have resumed discussions on a ceasefire proposal, meeting again after just one week. There is keen interest in whether the outcome will favor Ukraine or Russia. With the U.S. envoy scheduled to leave for Moscow next week, it is unlikely that the final decision will take a long time. Reporter Kang Jae-muk provides the details.

High-ranking officials from the U.S. and Ukraine have gathered in Florida to discuss a proposal to end the war in Ukraine.

– “This conference aims to find mechanisms that help Ukraine restore its independence and sovereignty, prevent further warfare, and foster the prosperity of its people.”
This meeting comes approximately a week after their first face-to-face negotiation in Geneva, Switzerland, on the 23rd of last month.

– “We thank the United States and its team for their efforts to assist us. The U.S. is walking alongside us.”
Marco Rubio, the chief U.S. representative, stated that while the talks were productive, “there is still much work to be done,” exercising caution in his remarks.
It is believed that both parties have already amended parts of the peace plan in Geneva, which was previously criticized for favoring Russia.
The Ukrainian side likely conveyed their positions clearly to the U.S. during this meeting.

– “The Ukrainian delegation has clear guidelines and is expected to work according to Ukraine’s priorities.”
The U.S. is conducting the negotiations with Russia’s potential acceptance in mind.
With Steve Vitikoff poised to meet Russian President Putin next week, much attention is focused on what negotiation proposal the U.S. will bring to Moscow.
