President Donald Trump said on the 3rd (local time) that he was “very surprised” that the United States was not mentioned in Chinese President Xi Jinping’s speech at the Victory Day military parade.
During a Q&A session with the media at the White House while holding a summit with Polish President Karol Nawrocki, Trump said, “I watched that speech last night. President Xi is also my friend. But the United States should definitely have been mentioned in that speech because we have helped China very, very much.”
He described the parade as a “beautiful event” and “very, very impressive.”
He further added, “I know why they are doing it. They would have wanted me to watch, and I was watching.”
Amid predictions that the Victory Day event, which brought Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un together, will strengthen the cooperation between North Korea, China, and Russia, Trump stated, “I have very good relations with all of them,” adding, “We will see how good they are within the next 1 to 2 weeks.”
In a post on social media platform Truth Social the previous day, Trump mentioned that President Xi should address the “massive support and ‘blood'” the United States has provided to China to help secure freedom against foreign invaders.
