“Donald Trump, the President of the United States, publicly called for the release of eight female protesters in Iran by sharing a post on social media that claimed ‘Iran is set to hang 8 female protesters.’
He urged, ‘Please do not harm them. This could be a great starting point for our negotiations’ and also released photos of the eight women.
Last night, he claimed that Iran had accepted his demands.
On the 22nd local time, President Trump posted on Truth Social, ‘I just received notification that the execution of these 8 individuals, planned for tonight, will no longer happen. This is very good news.’
He also claimed, ‘Four of them will be released immediately, and four will receive a sentence of just one month in prison.’
He emphasized, ‘I am very grateful that Iran and its leaders have respected my demands as President of the United States and canceled the planned executions.’
In response, Iran publicly countered.
Iran’s judicial official media, Mizan Online, retorted, ‘President Trump has once again been misled by fake news,’ adding, ‘Some of the women allegedly facing imminent execution have already been released, and while the others may face a maximum prison sentence if found guilty, none of them are charged with offenses punishable by death.’
Amid ongoing disputes, attention is focused on citizens in Iran facing execution threats. Last year, Iran executed at least 1,639 people domestically, and a recent report revealed that hundreds of protesters arrested following anti-government demonstrations in January this year also faced execution threats.
