The first trial verdict for former National Security Chief Chung Eui-yong, former National Intelligence Service Director Suh Hoon, and former Presidential Chief of Staff Noh Young-min regarding the so-called ‘forced repatriation of North Korean fishermen’ incident during the Moon Jae-in administration will be delivered today.
The defendants, who were key figures in the Moon Jae-in government’s security team, are accused of ordering officials from related agencies to repatriate two North Korean fishermen who expressed a desire to defect, despite not being obligated to do so. The fishermen were identified as having murdered 16 of their fellow crew members in 2019.
