On October 26th at 3 AM Korean time, Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy S26 series at the Galaxy Unpacked event. This new series marks the debut of the “3rd Generation AI Phone,” characterized by enhanced computational capabilities and speed. A notable feature is the AI’s ability to screen calls, answering suspicious and unknown numbers on behalf of the user to filter spam and phishing attempts.
The series includes the Ultra, Plus, and Base models, with features like AI call screening where AI summarizes caller information and content from unknown numbers. This could lead to a decline in human-to-human phone calls as AI assistants manage wireless interactions.
Samsung’s Bixby AI agent facilitates natural language processing for user settings, alongside options for other AI platforms like Google Gemini. The Ultra model includes a ‘Privacy Display’ for side-view limiting and enhanced privacy features, plus a high-performance Snapdragon 8 Elite 5th Gen processor. Notably, the series also integrates a new Vapor Chamber for heat control, ensuring stable performance during intensive tasks.
The S26 series features the mDNIe solution for refined display color accuracy, and the Ultra and Plus models have AI-based image processing to enhance content quality. For professional video production, the series supports high-quality APV codecs.
Prices for the new series have risen by about 100,000 KRW compared to previous models, with the Base model starting at approximately 1.25 million KRW and the Ultra surpassing 2.5 million KRW. All models come with a minimum of 12GB of memory.
In addition to the phones, Samsung also introduced the Galaxy Buds 4 Pro and Galaxy Buds 4, boasting high-quality sound and comfortable design. Pre-orders for the new products will be available from October 27th to the beginning of next month.
