The Democratic Party in the United States is continuing the fourth day of its national convention to confirm the presidential candidate on the 21st local time. On this day, Tim Walz, the governor of Minnesota who was nominated as the vice-presidential candidate two weeks ago, is scheduled to deliver an acceptance speech to his supporters and the American people to unveil his political vision.
A campaign official emphasized in a briefing that “Governor Walz has been gaining considerable momentum nationwide since joining the election two weeks ago.” They further stated that “The majority of Americans and electoral college members will now get to know who Governor Walz is, and today will mark the beginning of that process.”
Governor Walz, a retired veteran, high school teacher, and football coach, has a background in conservative-leaning Minnesota. After being elected as a federal congressman in the House of Representatives, he went on to become the governor. Despite his progressive political leanings, he has been effectively reaching out to voters with a broad embrace of moderate and conservative views and unique humility as he debuts on the national political stage.
Following tradition, Governor Walz’s wife, Gwen Walz, is planned to introduce her husband at the event. Former President Bill Clinton and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are also scheduled to speak at the convention.
Former President Clinton, who has stood on the Democratic national convention stage 12 times so far, is particularly known for his famous speech that united the divided Democratic Party base facing President Barack Obama’s re-election challenge at the 2012 Democratic National Convention.
