The Prosecutor General convenes a special investigation team… “Discussion on the direction of investigation after the Yoon case transfer”

Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung has discussed the direction of an investigation with the Special Investigation Headquarters for Martial Law under the prosecution (headed by High Prosecutor Park Se-hyun) regarding the decision to transfer President Yoon Seok-yeol’s rebellion case to the Corruption Investigation Office for High-ranking Officials (CIO).

According to legal circles on the 18th, High Prosecutor Park and the head prosecutor in charge of the investigation, Lee Chan-kyu, visited the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office in the afternoon.

In an announcement, the Supreme Prosecutors’ Office stated, “The visit by the Special Investigations Headquarters leaders was convened by the Prosecutor General to discuss future directions concerning the partial transfer of the martial law case to the CIO.”

CIO Chief Oh Dong-woon and Deputy Chief Prosecutor Lee Jin-dong also met that day to discuss the transfer related to the martial law situation.

The Supreme Prosecutors’ Office declared, “As a result of the discussion, it was decided to transfer the case of suspects Yoon Seok-yeol and Lee Sang-min to the CIO, and the CIO will withdraw its request for the transfer of the remaining suspects.” This day marked the deadline for the CIO’s second notice demanding the prosecution to transfer the martial law-related case.
