**Meeting between AMCHAM Chairman James Kim and Vice Chairman Choi Chang-hyuck**
**Discussion on Cooperation Measures between South Korea and the U.S.**
Seoul, The Personal Information Protection Commission announced on the 14th that Vice Chairman Choi Chang-hyuck met with James Kim, Chairman and CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Korea (AMCHAM), at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Yongsan District, Seoul, to strengthen communication and cooperation on privacy policies between South Korea and the U.S.
AMCHAM is an organization established to promote trade and investment between the U.S. and South Korea, with about 800 member companies, including Google, Microsoft (MS), and Apple.
As a proactive measure to address trade issues in the field of personal data between South Korea and the U.S., Vice Chairman Choi Chang-hyuck will introduce improvements to the Personal Information Protection Act made by the commission and discuss the direction of an “innovation-oriented trust-based privacy policy” in the AI era. Additionally, he plans to listen to the concerns of tech companies.
Vice Chairman Choi stated, “In an era where various global services are expanding with AI, cooperation on personal data protection between South Korea and the U.S. is becoming increasingly important. I expect this meeting to serve as an opportunity to further strengthen communication between the two countries.”
