(Seoul = News1) Reporter Park Eung-jin = A Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack occurred on the Ministry of National Defense’s website, prompting the military to investigate the exact perpetrator, keeping North Korea and others in mind.
According to the Ministry of National Defense, the DDoS attack on the website has been ongoing since 5:30 PM the previous day.
In response, the military immediately activated a DDoS response system, and the website is currently operating normally.
A DDoS attack is a technique that temporarily increases traffic (number of connections) to bring down a website.
A military official stated, “We are currently identifying the perpetrator of the attack.” It cannot be ruled out that North Korea, which has been engaging in continuous military provocations lately, is conducting cyber-attacks against the South.
Not only the Ministry of National Defense but also the Joint Chiefs of Staff’s website is experiencing access issues. However, the websites of each military branch, including the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine Corps, are operating normally.
