The 10th World Science Culture Forum will be held from April 18 to 19 at the Grand Ballroom of the Daejeon Convention Center’s first exhibition hall. The forum, themed “Ai and Human-Centricity: Hi, Ai,” will explore how artificial intelligence is integrated into our lives and culture from various perspectives. A total of 10 distinguished speakers, including renowned roboticist Dennis Hong, will deliver special lectures.
The opening ceremony is scheduled for April 18 at 10 a.m., with notable attendees including Daejeon Mayor Lee Jang-woo, Daejeon City Council Chairman Cho Won-hwi, Daedeok Innopolis Director-General Bang Seung-chan, and Kim Sook-kyung, Chair of the World Science Culture Forum Organizing Committee. The event will also be graced by ambassadors and counselors from seven countries, including Sweden and Hungary.
The opening performance features an ensemble by Professor Jonghwa Park from Seoul National University and an AI piano. IEEE Global AI Initiative’s founding Secretary-General John Havens and LEGO Education’s Vice President Bo Stjerne Thomsen will deliver keynote speeches. The afternoon session will include talks from KAIST Associate Professor Nam Joo-han, Dr. Kwon Tae-kyun, former KT CEO Ku Hyun-mo, and world-renowned roboticist Dennis Hong.
On April 19, lectures will be given by Assistant Professor Park Seung-min of Nanyang Technological University, a past Ig Nobel Prize winner, and KAIST Associate Professor Kim Jae-kyung. The afternoon will feature sessions with film director Kwon Han-seul, history storyteller Sun Kim, and science communicator Gwe-doga, providing engaging and accessible narratives on AI.
Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the World Science Culture Forum has been held annually since 2016, in conjunction with the Daejeon Science Festival, following the spirit of the 2015 World Science Summit’s Daejeon Declaration. Mayor Lee emphasized the forum’s role in expanding the foundation of science culture and global knowledge exchange, marking it as a special opportunity to hear from leading scholars and popular speakers on the theme of AI.
