The funeral of Kim Yong-nam, a veteran North Korean diplomat and former Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Supreme People’s Assembly, was held yesterday (5th) in Pyongyang, as reported by the Korean Central News Agency today (6th).
The funeral took place at the Sinmiri Patriotic Martyrs’ Cemetery, with the attendance of Kim Jong-un, Chairman of the State Affairs Commission. Kim Jong-un personally greeted the remains at the entrance of the cemetery and observed a moment of silence with the funeral attendees.
Kim Yong-nam, a prominent North Korean diplomat involved in three different administrations, passed away on the 3rd at the age of 97.
In 2018, he visited South Korea as the head of the North Korean delegation, along with Kim Yo-jong, Deputy Director of the Workers’ Party, during the PyeongChang Winter Olympics.
