Last year, “Everyone’s Classic,” which attracted a total of 17,000 attendees by introducing a “choose your own ticket price” system, will host eight performances starting in April this year.

Sejong Center announced on the 24th that the “Everyone’s Classic” concert series, featuring a total of seven orchestras and young musicians who have won international competitions, will be held eight times from April 1 to December.

Designed for “all Seoul citizens” to enjoy “the best classical performances,” this concert is a representative program of Sejong Center’s social contribution efforts. Last year, with the introduction of the ‘choose your own ticket price’ system allowing audiences to select their ticket price between 1,000 KRW and 10,000 KRW, the program garnered attention. A total of 17,000 people attended, and more than 20% of the attendees chose to pay more than the minimum price. Sejong Center described it as “not just about affordable performance viewing, but a new viewing style that respects the value of performances while balancing cultural enjoyment opportunities.”

The first concert in April, “Meet the Young Artists,” will feature the Gangnam Symphony Orchestra under the directorship of David Lee, presenting Mozart’s symphonies and piano concertos with the Gyeonggi Philharmonic Orchestra.

In May, under the theme “Opera and Choir,” conductor Jiyung Bae, who is active primarily in Europe, will present the essence of opera with the Korea Coop Orchestra.

In August, under the theme “Rachmaninoff and Piano,” loved by Koreans, Gun-tae Park, the first Asian to be appointed as Associate Conductor of the Banatul Timișoara Philharmonic Orchestra in Romania, will conduct the National Symphony Orchestra. In September, under the theme “Movies and Classics,” classical music frequently featured in films will be performed by the Seongnam Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of David Lee.

October’s theme will be “Beethoven Symphony X Concerto,” featuring the KBS Symphony Orchestra and conductor Ja-kyung Yeo, who will perform Beethoven’s notable symphonies and concertos. In November, the Daejeon Philharmonic Orchestra and resident conductor Ja-kyung Yeo will familiarize audiences with ballet music under the theme “Tchaikovsky and Ballet Music.” December’s final concert will be the “Year-End Concert” performed by the Incheon Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of conductor Jiyung Bae, closing out the year.

Ahn Ho-sang, President of Sejong Center, said, “We have enhanced the quality of the programs and performances this year to ensure that everyone can experience the ‘dignity of classical music.’”

Tickets for the April concert will be available from 2 PM on March 4th (Tuesday) via the Sejong Center website.
