“[Seoul=Newsis] Reporter Jo Soo-won = Professor Seo Kyung-deok of Sungshin Women’s University and Chef An Sung-jae released a documentary video introducing ‘Korean Jang Making Culture’ on the 5th.”
The six-minute video titled ‘Continuing Tradition’ was produced to commemorate the inscription of ‘Jang Making Culture’ as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.
It features an interview-style portrayal of the lives and stories of four master artisans of gochujang from Sunchang County, Jeonbuk Province.
Chef An Sung-jae, who gained significant attention as a judge on ‘Black White Chef’, personally appears in the documentary and provides the narration.
Chef An, who always had a deep interest in traditional Korean jang, participated in the documentary with the aim of widely promoting the limitless possibilities and values jang holds.
Professor Seo stated, “This is the perfect time to introduce jang, a fundamental ingredient of Korean cuisine, to the world,” and expressed plans to continue a ‘global campaign’ to further raise awareness of ‘Korean Jang Making Culture’ internationally.
