[TV Report=Han Soo-ji] Actor Kim Soo-hyun has come under renewed scrutiny after allegations surfaced that he was in a romantic relationship with the late actress Kim Sae-ron, who was 12 years his junior. His past statements are being re-examined in light of these claims.
In May 2013, during a showcase for the film ‘Secretly, Greatly,’ Kim Soo-hyun shared his thoughts on marriage. When asked about his marriage plans, he said, “When I was 24, I planned my life and thought I would get married between 36 and 37, but I don’t think I can keep that promise now.”
He continued, “Now, it’s been pushed back a bit, so it seems like I could get married at around 41,” adding that he would marry a 21-year-old woman, which caught people’s attention.
Actress Kim Sae-ron attended the VIP premiere of the film ‘Secretly, Greatly.’ At that time, she was 13 years old.
On October 10th, YouTube channel ‘Garo Sero Research Institute’ claimed, after directly confirming with her family, that Kim Sae-ron had been in a relationship with Kim Soo-hyun for six years starting at the age of 15.
In the video, Kim Sae-ron’s family confirmed through a phone interview, “It is true that Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron were in a relationship. They dated for six years,” adding that “Kim Sae-ron worked without pay to help establish Gold Medalist company and was discarded like an old shoe.”
Additionally, it was claimed that Kim Sae-ron received a content certification for a damage compensation amounting to 700 million KRW from Kim Soo-hyun’s side, and after failing to reach him by phone, she posted the photos with him that sparked romance rumors.
According to released writings, Kim Sae-ron clarified, “While romance rumors have been reported as groundless, it is not the truth.” She stated that “the photo uploaded on the story is from 2016, and the relationship lasted from November 19, 2015, to July 7, 2021. I was 16 years old, and my partner was 30, ending our six-year relationship.”
She further revealed, “As my career as an actress was innate, during the season of renegotiating with my management, while discussing a contract with my ex’s company, I joined the current Gold Medalist without any terms or conditions, working on rookie casting and visual directing without receiving proper compensation.”
Regarding this, Kim Soo-hyun’s agency, Gold Medalist, officially stated, “The claims made by Garo Sero Research Institute via YouTube involving actor Kim Soo-hyun are clearly false.”
