The Blue House states, “President Lee believes it is more beneficial to sell the apartment in Bundang and invest in ETF financial products.”

On the 27th, President Lee Jae-myung spoke at a town hall meeting titled “Listening to Jeonbuk’s Heart” held at Jeonbuk National University in Jeonju, Jeollabuk-do. According to a key official from the Blue House, President Lee Jae-myung and First Lady Kim Hye-kyung sold their apartment in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, which they previously owned jointly.

The official stated, “President Lee believes that selling the house and investing the money in ETFs (Exchange-Traded Funds) and other financial instruments is more economically beneficial.” During a press briefing at the Blue House Chunchugwan, the official explained that President Lee deemed holding onto the property to be a financial disadvantage, which is why they decided to put it on the market.

The official further mentioned, “President Lee has been considering this move for some time. The property currently has a tenant with an ongoing lease, and they obtained the tenant’s consent before listing the property for sale.” President Lee’s reasoning seemed to be that selling now while prices are high and potentially buying another property later at a lower price would be advantageous, assuming the real estate market normalizes by the time he completes his term and retires.
