Actress Shin Min-a shared that she tried to express a character with significant trauma in depth.
On the morning of the 31st, a production briefing for the Netflix series ‘Akyeon’ was held at JW Marriott Dongdaemun in Seoul. Actors Park Hae-soo, Shin Min-a, Lee Hee-jun, Kim Sung-kyun, Lee Kwang-soo, Gong Seung-yeon, and director Lee Il-hyung attended the event.
‘Akyeon’ is a crime thriller that depicts the story of six people entangled in an inescapable bad relationship. It is the first series work by director Lee Il-hyung, known for his highly praised direction in ‘A Violent Prosecutor,’ which maximized the genre’s entertaining elements.
Shin Min-a said, “When I first read the script, it was refreshing. The protagonist’s name was unique, drawing me into the script’s world, and the character I was offered appears in the later part of the story. The script was so enjoyable that I forgot it was one I received and just kept reading.”
She further explained, “I was so curious about the twists and the latter part of the story that I decided to take the role even before the story fully started. The character I play is an orthopedic surgeon who experienced significant trauma in the past and is living without sleep due to that suffering. I worked hard to portray the manifestation of past trauma as present suffering in depth and discussed it frequently with the director.”
Meanwhile, ‘Akyeon’ will be released on Netflix on April 4th.
