The ACRC issued a “complaint alert” on the 24th, citing an increase in complaints related to secondhand transactions.
According to an analysis of the government-wide complaint analysis system by the ACRC, there were 10,744 complaints related to secondhand transactions from February 2022 to January this year, spanning about three years.
The ACRC explained that complaints related to secondhand transactions have been on the rise continuously since 2023, with the highest monthly record of 422 cases in October last year.
To prevent and resolve these issues, the ACRC suggested measures to relevant agencies, such as strengthening systems to prevent fraud, increasing monitoring of prohibited transaction items, and enhancing the dispute resolution process.
Meanwhile, the total number of complaints collected in January this year was about 978,000, marking an 8.9% decrease compared to the previous month (1,070,000) and a 10.4% drop compared to the same month last year (1,090,000).
