‘Group Newsins’ entertainment label Udooer’s internal strife spilled over to conflict with the Dolphin Kidnapping team that had been collaborating on music videos.
Studio Dolphin Kidnapping’s CEO Shin Wooseok stated on social networking service (SNS) on the 2nd, “It seems that there is a change in policy due to the change in management at Udooer,” and explained, “Due to Udooer’s request for deletion, all Newsins music videos and related videos and channels that Dolphin Kidnapping has worked on and uploaded so far, as well as the upcoming videos, can no longer be made public.”
He added, “Dolphin Kidnapping and Ban Heesoo’s YouTube channel are operated with the primary purpose of archiving our portfolio, and no profit is generated at all,” and said, “These videos and channels were made voluntarily with the intention of creating good works for the fans, and no profit is being made for Dolphin Kidnapping.”
He further stated, “However, following Udooer’s changed stance, all videos cannot be made public and will be deleted.”
Director Shin added, “There are also projects promised with the Newsins members in the future, but it’s regrettable that I cannot keep those promises,” and expressed his regret to the staff who have worked tirelessly on the projects for months and to the fans who have been waiting.
Dolphin Kidnapping, operated by Director Shin, has directed Newsins’ music videos such as ‘Dito,’ ‘OMG,’ and ‘ETA.’ Although the ‘ETA’ music video director’s cut was recently released through the YouTube channel, it was deleted on that day.
In response, Udooer released a rebuttal statement on their SNS account on the 3rd. Udooer stated, “The ETA music video director’s cut posted by Dolphin Kidnapping on their own social media channel contains edited scenes that had disagreements with past advertisers and was uploaded without consultation,” and said, “The copyright of all Newsins music videos and related works is contractually owned by Udooer and Dolphin Kidnapping, which is why the ETA music video and its director’s cut must be posted on our official channel to protect the artists’ rights.”
Udooer also denied, stating, “We have only requested Dolphin Kidnapping to stop the posting of the director’s cut video and there has been no demand for the deletion or cessation of upload of all videos related to Newsins, such as Ban Heesoo’s channel,” and countered, “There has been no change in Udooer’s channel operation policy.”
Udooer stated, “We strongly regret the contract violations and dissemination of false information by Dolphin Kidnapping, and we will take measures to ensure that the deleted Newsins content can be uploaded to the official Udooer channel in the future.”
