Sports Chosun’s reporter Baek Ji-eun reports that Gwak Sun-hee, the leader of the rookie Army team in ‘Steel Troop W’, has opened up about coming out.
On the 15th, Gwak Sun-hee shared a long message on her account, saying, “I am truly grateful beyond words for the support and love I have received for my precious daily life and my relationship with someone I truly love. I am experiencing incredibly happy times.”
She continued, “Having made my presence known several times through broadcasts including ‘Steel Troop’ and being active on social media, I thought I had some influence, but I never imagined it would be to this extent.” She added, “The unexpected attention and love I have received are overwhelming. We plan to create beautiful moments for ourselves while never forgetting the love and support sent our way.”
Gwak also mentioned, “I’ve read many comments describing me as ‘brave’ and ‘confident’. For me, this was just an act of recording, yet it became something to not hide for someone, and I am perceived as a strong person who can raise their voice. I believe it’s because I have a strong personal value that love, which exists simply by being, deserves respect. I sincerely applaud all the diverse forms of love that exist in the world, regardless of their form.”
She emphasized, “These days, I can feel physically that there are many people like us. I hope that those people also have the courage to love in their way. We all have the right to be happy.”
On the 14th, Gwak captured attention by publicly coming out as a sexual minority and sharing photos with her same-sex partner.
