“Stand by Me, Starting from a Single Photo”… Cho Joo-wan Says, “We Need to Focus on the Customer Experience”

Cho Joo-wan, CEO of LG Electronics, gave a special lecture to engineering students at Seoul National University, emphasizing the shift from focusing solely on technology to prioritizing customer experience. During the lecture, which took place on the 24th of the month, Cho explained LG’s vision of becoming a “Smart Life Solution Company” that connects and enhances customer experiences in various living spaces.

Cho discussed the development process behind differentiated customer experiences in products like the LG StanbyME and LG Signature OLED M. He highlighted that while considering technical aspects such as viewing angles, sound, and user interface is important, the key is delivering an experience that customers truly desire—like watching TV from any position, rather than designing a “bed-specific” TV.

Additionally, Cho mentioned the wireless OLED TV, LG Signature OLED M, which eliminates all wires except the power cord to meet customer needs for clutter-free environments. He also introduced AI-integrated, small modular homes called “Smart Cottages,” which expand beyond products to offer entire space experiences.

Furthermore, Cho introduced LG Electronics’ specialized research organization dedicated to customer experience (CX) and encouraged future engineers to adopt experience-centered thinking. He advised them to engage in deep analysis, foster curiosity, discuss widely, envision a better future, and effectively communicate technology in a relatable manner.
