President Yoon Seok-yeol dispatched his special envoy, Sung Tae-yoon, Presidential Policy Chief, and Ahn Deok-geun, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, to meet with Prime Minister Petr Fiala of the Czech Republic on the 24th (local time) for discussions on the new nuclear power plant construction project.
At the meeting, the special delegation delivered President Yoon’s grateful letter for the selection of Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power as the priority negotiator for the new nuclear power plant project in the Czech Republic and discussed follow-up measures, the Presidential Office stated.

Chief Sung expressed gratitude once again to Prime Minister Fiala for participating in the new nuclear power plant construction project and stated, “President Yoon instructed all related agencies to do their best for the success of the Dukovany nuclear power plant project, which is the largest project in Czech history.”
Both governments agreed to establish a hotline between the two industrial ministries to support smooth follow-up actions and to hold a regular meeting in the near future to discuss cooperation measures spanning across nuclear power plant construction, workforce training, technology development, and joint entry into third countries, the statement said.
It was reported that the hotline between the two industrial ministries will be operated at the ministerial level, and the regular meeting body will consist of director-level officials.

Furthermore, the two countries agreed to closely coordinate on President Yoon’s visit to the Czech Republic in September, which was decided during the previous day’s summit phone call, in order to achieve significant results.
Prime Minister Fiala once again congratulated the selection of the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power as the priority negotiator and stated, “The new nuclear power plant will be an important source of energy security and industrial competitiveness for the Czech Republic, and through this cooperation, I hope that the strong strategic partnership between our two countries will be further strengthened.”
He added, “I hope that when President Yoon visits the Czech Republic in the future, concrete discussions on the successful implementation of the nuclear power plant project and deepening economic cooperation will take place.”
Policy Chief Sung proposed, “Both countries, with a strong potential for economic cooperation based on a manufacturing industry structure, should significantly expand cooperation in industries, energy, and science and technology fields.”
The Presidential Office stated that the Czech side expressed empathy for this and agreed to continue with concrete discussions in the future.
