This distance is equivalent to circling the earth about 12,000 times or circling the perimeter of South Korea about 106,000 times.
According to SOCAR on January 3rd, the member who used car-sharing the most accessed the service 431 times, averaging at least once per day throughout the year. The member who rented the most diverse range of vehicles tried out 39 different types, including electric cars, imported cars, and camping cars.
The most popular vehicle model among SOCAR members last year was the “The New Avante CN7.” Analyzing the age distribution of users by vehicle model, it was found that those in their 20s, seeking economical travel, preferred the reasonable choice of The New Avante CN7. Those in their 30s and 40s, frequently traveling with family, favored the multi-seater Carnival KA4 Prestige, while those in their 50s with greater economic means preferred the luxury sedan The New Grandeur. Furthermore, to reflect the growing consumer demand for diverse vehicle experiences, SOCAR expanded its lineup of imported cars, resulting in a monthly average increase of about 14% in usage rates and a 15% increase in driving distance for these cars.
Additionally, the member who used the “one-way” service the most utilized it 221 times last year. Moreover, the “Bureum” service, allowing members to rent a car at their desired location such as in front of their home or near their workplace (outside designated SOCAR zones), was most frequently used by a member 171 times over the year.
SOCAR also attracted foreign tourists, with the most car-sharing usage among international clients coming from Singapore, followed by Taiwan in second place and Malaysia in third. SOCAR plans to expand service areas this year, encouraged by the patronage of foreign tourists, and intends to develop a global version of the SOCAR application.
Meanwhile, the transaction value of SOCAR’s online parking platform, ‘Moduui Parking Lot,’ surpassed 50 billion won, marking a 25% increase compared to the previous year. The most popular parking pass was the “Daily Pass,” which allows use for up to 24 hours from the day of purchase. The most sought-after parking areas in Seoul were identified as Mapo, Jongno, and Seocho districts, where office buildings and residential complexes are densely located.
