‘Singer of the Nation’ Song Dae-kwan passed away today… Cause of death: heart attack

Singer Song Dae-gwan, a renowned trot singer, has passed away at the age of 78. According to News1 reports on the 7th, Song Dae-gwan died of a heart attack. The funeral will be held at the Seoul National University Hospital’s funeral hall.

It is known that the deceased had existing health issues and underwent three surgeries in the past. A close friend of Song mentioned, “Although his health wasn’t good, it was improving, and he was diligently exercising. Even during performances, when advised not to overexert himself, he would express his love for the stage, saying, ‘You know me,’” while expressing grief.

Song Dae-gwan debuted in 1967 with the song “A Man Full of Affection.” He hit his peak popularity in 1975 with the release of the song “The Day the Sun Rises,” which became a massive hit. He continued to receive numerous awards and established himself as a legend in the trot music scene. His hit songs include “Because of Love,” “A Ticket,” “Big Sound Bang Bang,” and “My Hometown is in the South.”
