“Siheung murderer” Cha Cheol-nam, when asked about the intention to kill the injured victims, said “There was none.”

Cha Cheol-nam, a Chinese-Korean who was arrested after killing two people and injuring two others in Siheung, Gyeonggi, stated on the 21st that he had no intention to kill the injured victims.

As Cha Cheol-nam left the Siheung Police Station around 9:30 a.m. to attend the pre-arrest suspect interrogation, when asked by the press if he intended to kill the convenience store owner and landlord, he replied, “No.” He nodded when asked if he committed the crime suddenly.

He did not answer questions about whether he committed the crime due to a debt of 30 million won, if he had anything to say to the victims, or what his relationship with the victims was, and he boarded the transport vehicle without further comment.

The Suwon District Court Ansan Branch is conducting a detention warrant hearing for Cha Cheol-nam, who is charged with murder and attempted murder, at 11 a.m. today.

The decision on whether to detain Cha Cheol-nam is expected to be made this afternoon.

Cha Cheol-nam is accused of killing two 50-year-old brothers, who were also Chinese-Korean, with a blunt weapon at his residence in Jeongwang-dong, Siheung, and at the victims’ residence on the 17th. Additionally, he is accused of stabbing a 60-year-old female convenience store owner and a 70-year-old male landlord with a weapon on the 19th.

Cha Cheol-nam testified that he had lent around 30 million won to the brothers multiple times since 2013 but they did not repay the debt, which led him to plan the crimes earlier this month by purchasing a weapon. He stated that he attacked B due to her badmouthing him and C for disrespecting him.
