Shin Sang-hyuk, CEO of Shinhan Bank, stated “Innovation in our core business and challenges for the future… efficient use of resources.”

On January 2nd, at the Shinhyup Bank headquarters in Jung-gu, Seoul, Bank President Jung Sang-hyuk delivered the New Year’s address, stating, “We will focus all our resources on securing a solid foundation to lead sustainable growth by innovating our core business and facing future challenges.” He presented this year’s strategic goal as “Value Up Together! A solid bank growing toward the future with core business innovation!”

President Jung emphasized the need for innovation by breaking away from the conventional “core business value innovation,” suggesting a transformation in the recognition of traditional growth methods as well as changes in working approaches. He stressed, “In addition to the asset growth-centric sales strategy, we must also pay close attention to qualitative growth through the efficient use of resources.”

Jung urged, “We must create a solution integrated from the customer’s perspective by combining all of our capabilities and expertise at Shinhyup,” and added, “Let us find opportunities for ‘connection and expansion’ beyond the boundaries of our industry wherever there are customers and finance, thereby broadening Shinhyup’s business scope.”

Furthermore, he emphasized that full efforts should be made for “future preparedness” to secure a competitive edge. Jung stated that by integrating the latest digital technology into financial services, new customer value should be created, and financial convenience should be enhanced, underlining that the expansion of the financial platform is not a choice but a necessity.

He mentioned the need to establish a “solid foundation” to support robust growth, asserting, “Thorough internal control is a key factor for sustainable growth, and as such, we aim to make 2025 a year of enhancing the completeness of the internal control system.” He also urged all employees to adhere to the “basics.”

President Jung referenced the concept of “Gangyugyeomjeon” (剛柔兼全), which means possessing both strength and softness to achieve harmony, saying, “Let’s overcome any difficulties by maintaining flexibility in an uncertain environment while adhering to fundamentals and principles,” and encouraged, “Let’s move boldly toward a better future for Shinhyup, with a mindset unafraid of change.”
