Shin Ji-ho: “My aunt, Mrs. Kim, cursed saying ‘Han Dong-hoon will be struck by lightning and die.'”

Shin Ji-ho, the deputy chief of strategy planning at the People Power Party and ally of Yoon, claimed that Kim Geon-hee’s aunt launched insults and curses not only at Han Dong-hoon but also at his entire family. This seems to be a counteraction as Han faces criticism from Yoon’s supporters over a controversy involving the party’s message board.

On the 27th, during a Channel A YouTube political show, Shin stated, “There are claims that Han and his family wrote posts criticizing the president and his wife, but the opposite is also true. There are instances where a high-ranking official from Yongsan uses harsh language about Han Dong-hoon when speaking with party members or journalists, and we hear about these.”

Shin highlighted that Kim Geon-hee’s aunt, Ms. Kim, shared a YouTube broadcast on Facebook, which was the first to allege Han and his family were involved in particular actions. He said, “They conclude that it was Han and his family who wrote the complaints against the president and his wife on the message board. They even used expressions like ‘they should be struck by lightning.’”

The specific person identified by Shin, Ms. Kim, posted on Facebook on the 6th with comments targeting Han’s family, suggesting jealousy and political maneuvering. She wrote, “A family destined to be struck by lightning,” and questioned if these were indeed the Han family members she knew, noting the People Power Party’s website being under a real-name policy.

Shin remarked, “We are aware of these posts, but we do not make an issue of them. We focus on who caused this commotion and view it as political maneuvering.”

Shin criticized the evolving narrative, noting that initially, there was pressure on Han to respond. Still, once a full survey of the problematic posts—1,068 in total—was completed, the narrative changed to questioning the investigation’s integrity. Lawmaker Na Kyung-won also noted that inquiries such as this were pointless, and when asked to clarify, those same skeptics doubted the findings, creating further disputes.
