**Police Investigating Document Leak**
A police internal document containing the details of a man in his 20s, who was arrested for allegedly murdering his ex-girlfriend and fleeing the scene in a residential area in Goejeong-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon on July 29, has spread online, sparking controversy.
Police have begun investigating the source of the leak after internal materials containing personal information of the suspect in the Daejeon dating murder case were disseminated online.
According to Yonhap News on the 1st, a wanted leaflet containing the personal details of suspect A, a man in his 20s involved in the Daejeon dating murder case, spread through some online communities and social media. The wanted poster includes A’s name, date of birth, full-body photo, ID photo, and a description of his clothing during the escape. Both the top and bottom of the poster clearly state “Strictly Prohibited from External Disclosure” and “For Police Use Only.” It is presumed that the internal document created to capture A during his escape was disseminated online through an unknown route.
A netizen also mentioned in a post on a large cafe with 2 million members that “(A’s) face has been fully disclosed and is being shared in group chats.” It is claimed that A’s personal information is spreading not only through online posts but also via private messengers.
Since A was never officially wanted, the act of disseminating the police’s internal wanted poster could lead to issues regarding the leak of investigative secrets or violations of the Personal Information Protection Act. The police are seeking cooperation from the platforms on which the problematic material was shared for its removal, while also investigating the initial leak source.
Meanwhile, A is accused of wielding a weapon to murder his ex-girlfriend, B, a woman in her 30s, in a residential area in Goejeong-dong, Seo-gu, Daejeon on July 29 at around 12:08 PM. A, who was on the run using various means of transportation such as shared cars and motorcycles, was arrested approximately 24 hours later, around noon on July 30, near an underpass in Sanseong-dong, Jung-gu, Daejeon, after attempting to ingest poison.
