Samsung Electronics reported an operating profit of 6.6853 trillion won in the first quarter, with the semiconductor business contributing 1.1 trillion won to the operating profit.

“Samsung Electronics exceeded market expectations with strong sales of the Galaxy S25 in the first quarter of this year.

Samsung Electronics announced on the 30th that its operating profit on a consolidated basis for the first quarter of this year was estimated to be 6.6853 trillion won, a 1.2% increase compared to the same period last year.

Sales reached 79.1405 trillion won, up 10.05% from the same period last year, recording the highest quarterly sales ever. Net profit increased by 21.74% to 8.2229 trillion won.

The Mobile eXperience (MX) division, responsible for smartphones, led the company’s overall performance by posting an operating profit of over 4 trillion won, thanks to the ‘Galaxy S25 effect.’

The Device Solutions (DS) division, responsible for the semiconductor business, recorded sales of 25.1 trillion won and an operating profit of 1.1 trillion won.

In memory, there is additional demand due to the expanded sales of server DRAM and the perception that NAND prices have reached their lowest point, but HBM sales have decreased due to factors such as semiconductor export controls.

Samsung Electronics stated that it plans to actively respond to on-device AI trends by expanding sales of improved HBM3E 12-layer products and high-capacity DDR5 of 128GB or more, and 10.7Gbps LPDDR5x (Low Power Double Data Rate 5x) to meet the demand for AI servers.”
