Samsung C&T’s Construction Division announced on the 12th that it has secured a 400 billion KRW project for the Ansan Global Cloud Center, a large-scale data center being developed by IGIS Asset Management in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province.
IGIS Asset Management, known for its noticeable achievements in data center development with a specialized organization, is one of South Korea’s leading alternative investment asset management firms. Samsung C&T has built a trust relationship with IGIS through previous projects like the Hanam data center. The two companies plan to actively collaborate to lead the rapidly growing AI data center market and secure future market leadership with this project and beyond.
This project involves redeveloping a 11,795㎡ site in Ansan’s Banwol Industrial Complex to establish a data center with a power capacity of 40MW, marking it as a super-scale data center. Power capacity refers to the maximum amount of power a data center can handle.
Samsung C&T is recognized for its capabilities in performing data center projects both domestically and internationally, including over ten data center constructions such as the Hanam Data Center, Samsung Electronics Supercomputer Center, and Hwaseong HPC Center, as well as being the first South Korean construction company to receive Tier 4 certification for Saudi Arabia’s Tadawul Tower data center.
Additionally, Samsung C&T holds a patent for the next-generation cooling technology, the immersion cooling system, and has the expert capability to optimize designs from the project planning and design stages through its pre-construction service experience.
