Samsung Chairman Lee Jae-yong Visits China After Two Years… The First Place He Visited Was

Samsung Electronics Chairman Lee Jae-yong visited China to attend the China Development Forum (CDF). This marks his first official visit to China in over two years since attending the CDF in 2023. During his visit, Chairman Lee explored potential business opportunities in China and visited Xiaomi’s automotive plant with Qualcomm CEO Christiano Amon, meeting with Xiaomi Chairman Lei Jun and other senior executives. Photos of these meetings have been widely shared on Chinese social media platforms like Baidu and Weibo.

The China Development Research Foundation and the Development Research Center of the State Council announced that this year’s CDF would be held in Beijing from the 23rd to the 24th. The forum’s attendee list includes notable figures from Korea, such as Lee Jae-yong and SK Hynix CEO Kwak Noh-jung.

The theme of this year’s CDF is “Stimulating Momentum for Comprehensive Development and Promoting Stable Global Economic Growth.” The forum will cover a range of topics, including macroeconomic policy, economic growth, consumer promotion, scientific and technological innovation, artificial intelligence development, and the construction of modern financial systems through various annual meetings and seminars.

Global business leaders such as Tim Cook from Apple, Christiano Amon from Qualcomm, and Hock Tan from Broadcom are expected to attend. Prominent figures from the finance sector, including Kenneth Griffin from Citadel Investment and Steve Schwarzman from Blackstone, will also be present.

According to the Financial Times, Chinese President Xi Jinping plans to meet with global business leaders attending the forum on the 28th after the CDF concludes. There is keen interest in whether Lee and Kwak will meet with President Xi, alongside other top executives like Tim Cook.
