Rescue dog finds elderly dementia patient who collapsed near nursing home

An elderly dementia patient who collapsed from the heat after escaping from a nursing hospital was found by a fire rescue dog and safely transported to the hospital. Last night (24th) around 11 p.m., an 80-year-old individual, Mr. A, went missing after leaving a nursing hospital in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi Province.

Responding to a police request for assistance, fire rescue dog ‘Jeonjin’ and handler Kim Kisang discovered Mr. A, who had collapsed due to heat exhaustion in a dense forest, around noon yesterday (25th), and safely transferred him to the hospital.

Fire authorities reported that the rescue dog ‘Jeonjin’ has been deployed in over 200 missing person search missions to date and recently placed 3rd in a group event with fellow rescue dogs at a national firefighting skills competition.
