Reports of side effects where women experience a ‘significant increase in breast size’ after receiving the COVID-19 vaccine

**19-Year-Old Woman’s Breast Size Increases from B Cup to GGG Cup After Vaccine**

A new side effect of the COVID-19 vaccine has been reported, necessitating caution.

According to foreign media, including the Daily Mail on the 7th (local time), a teenage girl who recently received the COVID-19 vaccine experienced a significant increase in breast size, causing distress.

The 19-year-old woman, residing in Canada, reportedly saw her breast size increase from a B cup to a triple G cup approximately six months after receiving the vaccine.

Initially, she noticed some tingling and a slight increase in size in her breasts following the first dose of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine in September 2022. About three weeks after the second dose, her symptoms worsened, and her breasts began to enlarge progressively.

Six months later, with her breast size having increased dramatically, she sought medical attention. The medical team speculated that she might be suffering from Pseudoangiomatous Stromal Hyperplasia (PASH), a rare condition involving the excessive proliferation of specific cells in the breast, typically forming benign tumors.

Globally, only about 200 cases have been reported, with only 20 associated with extreme breast growth (macromastia). This is the first time the condition’s link to the vaccine has been suggested.

Researchers noted that this may be related to existing findings that the COVID-19 vaccine can cause temporary lymphadenopathy. In fact, a 2021 study by the University of Pennsylvania confirmed that the vaccine could cause lymph node swelling, leading to abnormal mammogram and ultrasound results. However, this was described as a “normal immune response with no cause for concern.”

The University of Toronto researchers described this case as the first to demonstrate a temporal link between vaccination and macromastia due to PASH. Nonetheless, they clarified that this case does not prove a direct causative link to the vaccine.

The case was reported in “Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery-Global Open.”
