Russia attacked Ukraine with the new hypersonic medium-range ballistic missile ‘Oreshnik.’ The attack targeted the capital, resulting in at least four deaths and more than 100 injuries. In the sky, warheads fell as if several fruits were dropping, leading to a massive explosion. This missile, which travels at Mach 10, is Russia’s new weapon named after the hazelnut, ‘Oreshnik.’
Ukrainian President Zelensky announced that Russia launched 90 missiles and 600 drones overnight. The damage was particularly severe in Kyiv, affecting apartments, schools, and museums. [Volodymyr Zelensky/Ukrainian President: “The Chernobyl Museum was built just a month ago for its 40th anniversary. They targeted this museum. It’s complete madness.”]
Russian President Putin ordered retaliation after the occupied Luhansk region was attacked. This is already the third time Russia has attacked Ukraine with this missile, which can even carry nuclear warheads.
The European Union, including France and Germany, unanimously condemned Russia’s use of the Oreshnik missile. [Ihor Kravchenko/Kyiv resident: “It was really terrifying. I thought it was my last day.”]
Meanwhile, the Kyiv cafe, which opened just a day prior to the attack, became the talk of the town for hosting guests in a disordered state. This demonstrates that despite ongoing retaliations and an unending war, the daily lives of citizens continue to persist.
