\nThe Korea Consumer Agency evaluated the quality and safety of 10 wireless earphones, ranging from high-end to mid-to-low-end products, and found significant differences in quality among the products, with one product having an excessively high maximum volume.
High-end wireless earphones costing over 200,000 won from Bose, Samsung Electronics, Sony, Apple, and JBL were found to excel in sound quality and external noise-canceling capabilities.
However, among the mid-to-low-end products, earphones from LG Electronics, Britz, and QCY were also found to have minimal sound distortion at a level similar to high-end products, while the noise-canceling function of four products, including Xiaomi, was rated as satisfactory but one level below that of high-end products.
In the safety test, the TWA9 product from iRiver was found to exceed the European Union’s safety standard by having a maximum volume over 100 dBA (decibels).
The difference in call quality between high-end and mid-to-low-end products was not significant, with both high-end products from Samsung Electronics, Sony, Apple, and mid-to-low-end products from Britz and Xiaomi performing excellently in quiet environments.
The JBL product was the most expensive at 359,000 won, up to 14.5 times more expensive than the cheapest Xiaomi product at 24,800 won.
However, high-end products offered more additional features than mid-to-low-end products, such as spatial audio and wireless charging.
The Consumer Agency advised consumers to carefully compare products according to their intended use due to the large differences in price and functions of wireless earphones.
