Prime Minister Han Duck-soo presided over a cabinet meeting and stated, “Prepare protection measures for vulnerable groups for the winter season.”
On the 12th, Prime Minister Han commented, “The next U.S. administration will seek significant policy shifts in various areas such as diplomacy, security, trade, and industry.” He urged that the government closely communicate with the industry to share information and devise effective measures.
During the cabinet meeting held at the government complex in Seoul, he directed relevant departments to respond to the aftermath of the U.S. presidential election. He emphasized that departments, led by the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, should ensure thorough follow-up actions, including operating a review body for the three main areas—finance, trade, and industry. He also stressed the importance of continuing and advancing the cooperation projects promoted by the South Korean and U.S. governments in areas like artificial intelligence (AI), advanced bio, and quantum technologies, asking for special attention to related networking and cooperation.
Prime Minister Han remarked, “With the tense security situation surrounding the Korean Peninsula due to North Korea’s involvement in the Ukraine war, the close security cooperation framework between South Korea and the U.S. must function seamlessly.” He further noted, “Under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration, the South Korea-U.S. relationship has developed into a ‘global comprehensive strategic alliance.’ The breadth and depth of this alliance have reached unprecedented levels under any previous administration.” He affirmed his commitment to further advancing the strong South Korea-U.S. alliance to ensure the country’s security and national interests and actively supporting Korean citizens and businesses in overcoming challenges in international markets.
Moreover, Prime Minister Han anticipated substantial cold waves next month and instructed the preparation of practical measures to protect vulnerable groups during the winter season.
