President Lee’s Approval Rating at 67%… NBS: “Highest Since Inauguration” [Poll Poll News]

NBS: 4%p Increase in Two Weeks
Progressives 92%, Moderates 73%… Conservatives Also 37% Positive
Democratic Party 45% vs People Power Party 17%, ‘President Lee Jae-myung’s approval rating for state affairs hit a record high in the high 60% range since taking office.’,

According to the National Barometer Survey (NBS) conducted by Embrain Public, KSTAT Research, Korea Research, and Hankook Research from February 23 to 25 with 1,002 men and women aged 18 and older nationwide (margin of error is ±3.1 percentage points at the 95% confidence level, response rate 14.9%), the president’s approval rating rose by 4 percentage points from the survey two weeks ago to 67%. NBS stated, “The positive evaluation of state affairs is the highest since the president took office.” The negative evaluation dropped by 5 percentage points to 25% compared to two weeks ago.

By ideological inclination, the approval rating stood at 92% among progressives and 73% among moderates. Among conservatives, it was 37% (with 54% negative evaluation).

Expectations for the national vision also increased. In response to whether “our country is going in the right direction,” 63% agreed; for “democracy is progressing,” 60%; “the values of fairness and common sense are well realized,” 60%; “the Korean Peninsula is becoming peaceful and safe,” 56%; and “the economy is stabilizing and improving,” 55%. These figures have all improved compared to the last survey in the third week of August last year under the current government, as well as during the previous Yoon Suk-yeol administration.

In terms of party support, the approval rating for the Democratic Party rose by 4 percentage points to 45% compared to two weeks ago. Support for the People Power Party fell by 5 percentage points to 17%. The Reform Party and the Innovation Party received 4% and 3% respectively, while the Progressive Party was at 1%.

Regarding former President Yoon Suk-yeol’s life sentence in the first trial for charges related to being a leader of a rebellion, 42% viewed the sentence as “lighter than the charges.” 26% considered it “appropriate,” and 23% said “it’s wrong because he is innocent.”

Concerning the abolition of the suspension of heavy capital gains taxes on multi-homeowners, 62% thought it was a well-made decision, while 27% disagreed.
