Google has officially launched its voice AI assistant ‘Jeminae Live,’ which was unveiled in May.
It can perform complex commands beyond simply playing music or providing weather information.
[Dave Citron / Google Jeminae Product Manager: “Jeminae, write a note to Professor Gelman for me. I’m sick and have missed classes, so I’m asking for a few more days for the assignment. (As you can see), it usually takes a few minutes for ordinary tasks, but Jeminae can do it in a few seconds.”]
It can interact with Google’s own services like YouTube and Gmail, allowing seamless transitions between different apps.
[Jenny Blackburn / Google Product Marketing Manager: “I’ll search for a Korean food blog by a favorite YouTube creator to prepare for a trip to Seoul. I’ll play the video and call Jeminae. Then I’ll say, ‘Create a list of foods mentioned in this video.’ (After the results) Take a look. I went on a treasure hunt.”]
It can engage in natural conversations like a friend, responding even if the topic changes abruptly.
The paid subscription service ‘Jeminae Live’ has been released only in English for now.
It can currently only be used on Android phones, but the service will be expanded to iPhones in a few weeks.
Apple, which is slightly behind in the AI competition, is also gearing up for a new product launch.
However, there are discussions of a possible delay in integrating AI voice assistants on Apple’s devices.
ChatGPT developer OpenAI, in collaboration with Apple, is also hurrying to release the next-generation conversational AI, GPT-5.
Google, which typically unveils new products in October, has moved up its timing by two months this time as part of its strategy to take the lead in the fierce AI competition.
