Park Chan-dae said, “The People Power Party, which caused the need for a presidential by-election, should not field a candidate.”

Floor Leader Park Chan-dae of the Democratic Party of Korea stated on the 7th, “The responsibility for this presidential by-election lies entirely with the People Power Party,” asserting that “the People Power Party, which caused the election, should not field a candidate.”

In the Supreme Council meeting held at the National Assembly, Park mentioned, “According to the National Assembly Budget Office’s estimate, a whopping 494.9 billion KRW will be spent on the presidential by-election following the impeachment of former President Yoon Suk-yeol. The People Power Party should not field a candidate in this presidential election if they have any sense of shame.”

He criticized, “The People Power Party, being the party of Yoon Suk-yeol, did not even attempt any disciplinary action such as expulsion during the entire process leading up to the impeachment following Yoon’s declaration of martial law, effectively endorsing and colluding with the insurrection. They are evidently a party that colluded with insurrection, disqualifying them from fielding a candidate.”

Park continued to emphasize, “During the 21st National Assembly, eight bills were proposed concerning the responsibility and strengthening of sanctions for causing re-elections, of which seven were proposed by the People Power Party,” adding, “Not fielding a candidate in an election held due to the fault of a leading member of their own party is the least they can do for the people.”

He further stated, “The election law violation case of former President Yoon should be investigated and prosecuted,” adding, “The charge against First Lady Kim Kun-hee for falsely claiming to have memorized the entire Old Testament should also be prosecuted using the same standards as those applied against the opposition.”

He concluded by saying, “If disqualification of election results is confirmed, the People Power Party should return the 39.7 billion KRW in funding received during the presidential election period,” emphasizing, “This is what the people see as fair and logical.”
